VinturiWineAeratorWhen I received the Wine Aerator, I thought it was simply another little wine gimmick – something that didn’t work. I pleasantly surprised to find that not only does it work, it works damn good! Five stars (with 187 reviews) on Amazon!

We’ve used the wine aerator for almost a year. It makes bad wine, perhaps palatable. And makes what may be good wine, even better. Of course, it only works for reds and you may not get the same degree of improvement from every wine. But on the whole, we use this great little tool with ever red wine we open.

I am not a scientist (but my wife is), so I can’t explain exactly how it works. But to my understanding, it essentially instantly “ages” the wine through the “aeration” (or oxidation) it provides as you pour, “opening it up”. So as you can guess, you don’t really want to age your white wine. And for young reds its better than well aged reds.

But for the average $10 bottle of wine, it really works to make the wine much more balanced. For $30 or so, it’s an essential addition to every win drinkers’ chest of tools – right along with Wine Preserver gas and the Screwpull.
