If you’re a big photo buff on Microsoft Windows, this app is for you. Free and super simple to use, John’s Background Switcher dynamically swaps out your computer desktop background image based on the photo source you choose.
The switcher supports numerous sources of photos:
- Any folder on your computer
- Flickr
- Facebook
- SmugMug
- Picasa
- Webshots
- Or any RSS feed or Google, Yahoo or Bing Image Search URL
I am a Flickr user and can choose which “set” I want to use, or simply use popular photos from across Flickr.
There are an amazing number of settings to choose from: picture mode, change frequency (30 seconds to 7 days), multiple monitors just to name a few. You can even select background montages/mosaics of your photos.

Perhaps one of the best $100 you could spend on any iPhone accessory – the Mophie Juice Pack Air gets 2x the battery life and a durable case all in one.
There are lots of clunky “battery” extenders for iPhones, but none as integrated and as elegant as the Mophie Juice Pack Air. It fits the iPhone 3GS like a glove, truly doubles the battery life and is durable as can be – I’ve dropped it a few times with only a scratch or two. And it’s the only battery that Apple has certified for use with the iPhone 3GS.
Now of course, all this goodness is not without at least one drawback. And for some this is trading one of the iPhone’s biggest pitfalls for another: the Juice Pack Air does slightly impede iPhone reception.
While most users testify there is a loss in signal strength, the ATT network is so poor anyway, its really hard to tell just how big of an impact the Juice Pack is having.
All in all, the slight loss of signal is outweighed by the case protection and extended battery life.
